A tribute to one of Washington's most prominent potato scientists.
He's put in hundreds of field days, thousands of hours of research, years of dedication-truly a lifetime in potatoes. This description is of just one man, a man whose impact on the potato industry has crossed the globe-a man whose name will be forever associated with potatoes. He is Dr. Robert E. Thornton.

U.S. Potatoes Inspire Innovative Menus in International Foodservice
On the 43rd Floor of the Jin Jiang Tower Hotel in Shanghai, the revolving Blue Heaven restaurant infuses U.S. potatoes with Chinese spices and flavors-just a taste of the menu innovations Asian foodservice is developing using U.S. potatoes, according to the U.S. Potato Board.

Seed Potato Development in Mexico
Ensenada, Mexico was the destination of the 22nd Annual National Potato Council Seed Seminar, fitting as speakers from Mexico presented information about seed potatoes from that country to seminar attendees. The seminar was held aboard the Carnival Cruise Line's M/S Ecstasy Dec. 8-12.
